Sleep As It Relates To Health

Sleep is important to your health

Sleep deprivation can affect your health

We all know not getting enough rest makes us more likely to get sick.

Did you know being sleep deprived, that is less than 6.5 hours of sleep a night for long periods, makes for increased risk for obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke and all causes of mortality?  Artificial light from TVs, computer screens, Kindles and smart phones has been associated with insomnia.

A cancer study in the archives of General Psychiatry studied 1.1 million people; people who slept between 6.5-7.4 hours at night had the lowest mortality rate.

Give your body a rest, back off the caffeine, shut off the television earlier and plan to be healthier in 2016.
