Your Child’s First Visit

Your child's first visit to the dentist

As you talk to your child about the visit, please refrain from phrases such as “It won’t hurt.”

We recommend that the first visit be an introductory “Happy Visit” because it is important that your child’s first experience with a dentist is a good one! The time to make this appointment for your child is around the age of four.

As you talk to your child about the visit, please refrain from phrases such as “It won’t hurt,” as this builds the expectation that there is something to worry about. We will be caring and patient with your child. And remember — it is easy for your youngster to have a pleasant dental experience if he or she is brought in before problems develop.
